The Santana Fund

The Santana Fund was established by Dr. Bohon with the mission of providing crucial veterinary services to deserving pets who are unable to receive the necessary treatment due to financial constraints.

Santana While attending college, Dr. Bohon’s 8 year old Labrador was diagnosed with lymphoma. Santana underwent successful chemotherapy treatments, was given a second chance, and lived another 3 years. Witnessing the treatment and subsequent remission of “Tana’s” cancer helped inspire Dr. Bohon to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Since its inception in 2006, the Santana Fund has raised over $130,000 and helped save the lives of over 135 pets.   The Animal Hospital of Orleans matches all private donations to the Santana Fund and also makes a contribution to the fund in memory of every patient who is euthanized.

Our pets give so much to us and ask so little in return.  "Santana was with me through the difficult teenage years, college, marriage, and the first three years of veterinary school.  I think the Santana Fund is one way for me to recognize how much our pets enrich our lives." - Karen Bohon, DVM
