1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients’ needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill.
2. We accept debit cards, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Care Credit, checks, and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card.

You can either apply at our hospital, where we’ll call in your application over the phone for immediate approval, or apply yourself online at: www.CareCredit.com.

Pet Insurance
For your convenience, our hospital accepts pet insurance from all major carriers.
We recommend Trupanion pet insurance. Ask about Trupanion at our office or visit.
As pet owners, every year you budget for your expected trips to the vet for what your pet needs, like annual wellness exams and vaccinations. People tend to think that their healthy pets don’t need pet insurance. But, what happens when your dog runs out the front door and into the street or your cat starts showing signs of kidney disease as it ages? Are you prepared for the expense of an unexpected accident or illness?
We are committed to ensuring that your pet lives a happy and healthy life and recommend Trupanion Medical Insurance for your pet. Why? First and foremost let us say that we do not receive anything for endorsing them. We have worked with other providers and have found that Trupanion Medical Insurance’s plans are pretty straightforward, they don’t have payout limits, and they cover treatments and conditions that other companies don’t. With most cases, claims are processed and applied to your account at the time of your appointment, so there is no paying up front for you and then waiting to be reimbursed from the insurance company.
We encourage you to take a look at Trupanion Medical Insurance. They offer a free 30-day trial of coverage for all dogs and cats between 8 weeks and before their 14th birthday. Your pet just needs to have received an exam from one of our veterinarians within 24 hours. Ask about the trial at your next exam.
Trupanion does not pay for preventative care (annual exam, vaccines, etc.) or pre-existing conditions, so getting your plan sooner than later, while your pet is healthy, is a good idea! Their website allows you to estimate the cost of a plan for your pet and has examples of what care costs and what they’ve covered.
Hospital Policies
Appointment Cancellation Policy
We understand when mistakes happen or appointments are forgotten. Our goal, however, is to keep our appointments available for our patients that need medical attention.
For this reason it is important that we be notified of any cancellations no later than 9:00 am the day of your appointment. (The more notice we have, the more time that gives us to call clients waiting for an opening and allow them to adjust their schedules.) Clients calling after 9:00 am the day of their appointment, or who miss their appointment, will be mailed a policy notice reminder. A second missed or “late” cancellation will result in the client being asked to pay a $20 missed appointment fee which will be applied to their account as a credit toward their next visit. If that next visit is missed or has a “late” cancellation, the $20 appointment credit will then become a non-refundable cancellation fee.
We hope you understand the need for this policy and thank you for allowing us the opportunity to take care of your pet’s healthcare needs.
Surgery Appointment No Show Policy
A surgery, dentistry, or anesthetic procedure “no show” is a client who misses a surgery appointment without providing 48 hours of notice of cancellation. Any missed spay, neuter, dental, surgical or anesthetic appointment will result in a non-refundable $100 cancellation fee. The surgery or dentistry will only be rescheduled after this fee is paid.
Appointment Policy
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time.
Patient Arrival Policy
For your protection, and that of others, all dogs must be on a leash and properly controlled while in the waiting area or exam rooms.
All cats must be presented in an appropriate cat carrier or on a leash.
For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask that you do not restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.
For your convenience, drop-off appointments are available. A drop-off means you could bring your pet to the hospital and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours. Usually, we will ask you to come sometime in the morning, so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the doctor is done with the exam, she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions.
Payment Policy
We require full payment at the time that services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Cash and Check. Any accounts that are sent to collections after 90 days of non-payment will be marked no further services even in the event that the balance is paid in full.
Return Policy
Just like with a human pharmacy, products that have left our facility cannot be returned. However, opened bags of dog and cat food may be returned or exchanged because they are guaranteed by the manufacturer.
What to Expect
When you are looking for a veterinary clinic you should be able to count on superior care, excellent service and a friendly atmosphere. The Animal Hospital of Orleans has assembled an expert team of professionals to bring you the best possible healthcare for your pet. Whether it is veterinary medicine, dog or cat boarding, or bathing, our trained and experienced staff is well prepared. We have a state of the art veterinary facility which is clean, comfortable, and efficient.
We are known as: The High Tech Hospital with affordable prices and Cape Cod Charm.
Our doctors recommend that you bring you pet in for a comprehensive physical examination at least once a year. Pets age faster than humans and the physical exam is one of the most effective ways to detect problems early – catching them before they become a more serious illness. Early detection leads to prompt treatment and better health.
Bring in any medical history you have on your pet when you come to our clinic. We will review your pets medical and vaccination history with you. If you have any specific health concerns about your pet, we suggest writing them down so we can be sure to answer all of your questions during your visit.
Vaccinations: There are many different vaccinations available today for dogs and cats, but your pet may not require every available vaccine. Every pet’s situation is unique. The doctors at the Animal Hospital of Orleans will work with you to develop a vaccine protocol tailored specifically for your pet. Some vaccines are “core” vaccines and are recommended for every pet. Other vaccine recommendations will be based on your pet’s lifestyle and their risk of exposure to disease. For example: Agility dogs, pets in play groups, “outside” cats, boarding and grooming pets, and pets who travel often, typically have more exposure to other pets which warrants additional immunizations. Our doctors and healthcare staff are experienced and well educated about vaccines. Our goal is to give your pet the immunity & protection he or she deserves – but without administering any unnecessary vaccines. We will work together to develop a vaccination schedule that fits your pet’s unique lifestyle, health, and risk for exposure to disease. (Note: Rabies vaccines are required by law).
If something is wrong: If you bring in a sick pet or if we find a problem during a physical exam, be assured that your pet is in good hands. If additional diagnostics are indicated, we have an in-house laboratory that can provide results in minutes. If X-rays are required, our state-of-the-art Digital X-Ray system provides high quality radiographs in-house. These digital images can be computer enhanced to aid in making a diagnosis or electronically transmitted to a Board Certified Radiologist for a “stat” consult. Our fully-stocked pharmacy allows us to have the prescription medications your pet needs on hand for quick convenient treatment. For problems requiring surgery or for elective procedures such as spay and neutering, our modern, sterile, surgery suite is well-equipped and we use the safest anesthesia available – the same ones used in human hospitals.
It is always stressful when your pet is not feeling well. The Animal Hospital of Orleans promises to make that difficult situation as comfortable as possible for you and your “best friend” by providing prompt, thorough treatment and effective communication. We strive to provide treatment options that are within your budget.
Specialists: In some circumstances, the Doctor may refer you to a specialist who has expertise in a specific field such as cardiology or ophthalmology. Our hospital has relationships with top specialists in these and other fields. Our goal is to ensure your pet is in the right hands for their specific need.
